In my forum reply to the pricing of the Lionel's new ZW-L on April 9th I wrote:
MTH Z transformer is 400 watts, lists for $439.95: That's $1.10 per/watt.
ZW-L transformer is 720 watts, will list for $799.95: That's $1.10 per/watt.
MTH & Lionel are the same $$$$ per/watt; that's marketing.
In the new Lionel catalog 2010 Volume 2. the retail price is $799.99. Marketing dictated that the $'s per watt be around the same price.:)
There is another history making item that is NOT in this new catalog. Has anyone caught was is missing for the first time in over 100 years??? Go back through the catalog and see 'what is missing.' If you do not know what it is then scroll down to see the answer.

The "O-27" and the "O" gauge tubular track is not offered for sale in this catalog. Also, all of the items displayed for sale are pictures on Fastrack. In the last Lionel catalog a 10 inch "O-27" straight track was priced at $1.99 and "O" at $2.89 . In the current catalog a piece of 10 inch Fastrack is priced at $4.59.

Ted
I noticed that as well but thought maybe they were only showing it one catalog a year. Good call on this one. Now to see if they discontinue that track.

If they do cut out tubular track they will be cutting their own throat. I've had folks look at starter sets and balk after looking at the price of Fastrack. Also hobbiest looking to start a new layout and are thinking of using FT till they figured the cost. What gets them, and I don't have an answer, is why all the short sections are the same price as a 10" long.

Hello Roger B good to see you on the forum. Yes I sure hope they do not stop making Tubular track because as you know that is what I use and have decided to keep using it. After many hours of going back and forth I am staying with good old Tubular O gauge track.:)

We're, Memory Station, currently accepting pre-orders from the catalogue. Our orders need to be in to the distributor the first or second week of October. Don't wait too long. With the way Lionel has been if you don't pre-order you may not find it on the shelve.

Did you guys notice the "Made in USA" presidential cars? I thin Calabrese is using some sort of "family" connection to New Jersey to get them made here. :)

Eric I did not notice that but went back and looked and WOW it is made in the USA. That is great and we need to support that set of cars. :)

Yes I will have to get my order in as well.
As Ted was asking about what was missing in that catalog I noticed one other thing in the catalog and that every photo shown except one had Fast Track under each unit. I just hope that the O gauge track stays around. I really like the K-Line snap track myself but i guess that has gone away for sure.:(
