View Full Version : Limiting Top Speed - TMCC

On some engines (TMCC-Legacy equipped) I've noticed there's a program code to limit the top speed of the engine (useful when small ones operate the trains)....
It's: Eng + ID# + SET then bring the engine up to desired speed and press BOOST
On two engines (one Lionmaster, one scale E7) this feature is absent....
What gives? Anyway to "find" it in the ones that don't seem to have it?
thx

I am wondering if it is only with the new Legacy engines? What are the Lionel numbers on those two engines?

I think the feature has been available on older TMCC engines. I remember setting top speed on one of the few TMCC engines that I have that I planned on using on the Christmas tree layout. It was for just that same reason... to prevent overshoot when the little ones were operating the engine.

I'll have to get out the boxes Wyatt to get the numbers....
In the mean time, I'll try reducing track voltage and see if TMCC electronics still works

Yes TMCC should work at very low voltage. I believe I have run it as low as 6 volts.

Well, I did reduce the voltage to about 9 volts but then the engine couldn't climb the trestle

Yes if you lower the voltage then the top speed will be slower but that was what you were trying to do except the train will not climb the grade at that low of speed so try increasing it just a little and hopefully it will not be to fast on the level area.

Rich,
Also be aware that the couplers will not work at as low a voltage as the rest of the electronics run. I usually run just enough voltage so the couplers work (saves light bulbs).
