I had the MRC "Pure Power" 270w transformer for less than a month now, and one side of the transformer has crapped out after a routine derail short. No voltage, no reset, nada, zilch.:(

Anyone have any experience with the MRC brand? I'm going to try to exchange it for the Lionel ZW.

Later Footnote:
I did swap it for the ZW and paid the difference...and in retrospect admired the MRC's simplicity. However, unknown to me until I bought the ZW and for those of you who wish to power separate blocks of track, the new ZW will remotely power (via the CAB-1 or Legacy) 4 separate blocks of track without buying the separate "Block Controller" and cable to connect it to the Command Controller.

I have two MRC Daul power 270 watt units with the hand held unit. I used them for my layout until I upgrade to TMCC Cab 1 and use 4 180 brick with 2 TPC 3000 now. I never had and issue in fact one is my test bench power supply and I use the other to supply power for my 18 K-Line super snap 072 switches. Sorry it fried but I my opinion the ZW is the way to go and I know you will not regret it.
